Here's how it went.... Tuesday, may 19th, went in at 4:00am, didn't get started until 5am, Doc came in right before 7am to break my water. (Side note - Get the epidural BEFORE water gets broken!) Had a bad reaction to the epidural so they they had to lower the pitocin. Started pushing about 9:45am and Kaleb was born at 9:56 am. He weighed 8 lb. 10 oz. and was 20 in. long. My biggest baby!! (That would definitely explain my massive uncomfortableness these past few weeks!) He had some fluid in his lungs so they took him away, but said he would be fine. Then his heart rate kept dropping so they put a heart monitor on him for the next several hours. They said he just a a little trouble transitioning to the outside world. He's fine now.
We came home the next day and were welcomed home by some "interesting" news... Alivia had stuck a BEAD up her nose and they couldn't get it out! So the baby and I continued home and Scott took Alivia to the Dr. to have the bead removed. :-)
So far Lacey, Alivia and Josh are all really excited about the new baby. Josh is especially proud that he is a BIG brother! They love holding him and giving him kisses and just watching him sleep. (Only becasue we have the rule that if you wake him up while he is sleeping, you will be severely punished!)
Kaleb was starting to look a little yellow yesterday and was a little more today so we took him in to be checked. Turns out, he's right on the line so we have to take him back in tomorrow to check again.
So far, he is a really easy going baby. He only cries when he is hungry - which is often. :-) But he also sleeps pretty well and doesn't even make a fuss when he gets poked and prodded by those who love him! We are so grateful that he is here! Now I remember why we go through 9 months of total crap - - because there is a beautiful miracle waiting for us at the end!
P.S. I tried to uphold more photos but it's not working at the moment. I'll post more as soon as I can. Also, thanks to everyone for all their help and kindness over this whole ordeal!!
